Blocking Eight Illegal IPTV Services
At the initiative of the Association for the Fight against Audiovisual Piracy (hereinafter “Alpa”), and with the support of the CNC, rights holders and television channels obtained the blocking of eight illegal IPTV[1] services.
These services, located outside of French territory, illegally offer access to counterfeit works and pay channels for a derisory price.
Based on the procedure provided for in Article L. 336-2 of the French Intellectual Property Code (hereinafter “CPI”), the rights holders and the television channels managed to obtain a blocking decision from the Paris Court of Justice (hereinafter “Paris Court of Justice”).
The main Internet service providers, namely Orange, Bouygues Télécoms, Free, SFR and SFR Fibre were therefore ordered to implement “all measures to prevent access” to these sites for 18 months.
It should be noted that these blocking measures will also extend to all sub-domains associated with the domain names referred to in the decisions.
