Le Point’s methodology:
“Le Point has partnered with Statista, an independent institute that conducts similar surveys with, among others, The Times (Great Britain) and Focus (Germany). At the beginning of the year, Statista invited more than 19,000 lawyers, in-house counsel and clients to participate in the survey. The ranking is based on recommendations. Lawyers were asked to indicate which colleagues they would recommend to their clients and to rate the technical expertise of the firms they know. In-house counsel and clients were able to rate the firms with which they work by giving a score from 1 to 6 for three criteria (technical expertise, responsiveness and transparency). To be included in the ranking, a law firm had to obtain a minimum number of recommendations and a score above the average of the participants. A law firm that appears in one or more of the 27 specialties therefore benefits from the recommendations of its colleagues and clients in that area(s). From November 16, 2020 to January 15, 2021, some 5,000 people participated in the survey, and 257 firms were listed…”
